Monica fell in love with Hatha yoga in 1993 and has sustained a dedicated practice ever since. In 1996 she completed her first Teacher Training course with Erich Schiffman, and then studied Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers in 2000. The study of the energetic pathways of the body inherent in the practice of Yin Yoga inspired her to immerse herself in the study of Chinese Medicine.
Monica received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in 2009, where her fascination in the human body and energetic anatomy was strengthened through her studies of acupuncture, Qi Gong and Tai Qi. Her ongoing exploration of yoga has led her to her present teachers, Zhander Remete and Emma Balnaves of the Shadow Yoga school, by whom she is both inspired and grateful for.
Monica's classes are guided by her focus on mindfulness. She encourages students to take advantage of the precious opportunity to be present to the sensations of their own bodies while clearing obstructions to allow for freedom of movement.
