Nicole Swanson began her journey on the yogic path ten years ago when she found her teacher, Diane Wilson, in answer to a prayer. She had been trying to learn the art of meditation through books and experimentation but knew instinctively that meditation consists of more than sitting still while a running dialog plays in the mind. Nicole found herself immersed in a strong hatha/ pranayama practice and grew to understand that strengthening the body and mind through postures and breath work are necessary steps in obtaining the calm and quiet needed for deeper states of meditation. Nicole is trained as both a hatha yoga and kriya meditation teacher and has been teaching in Portland for the last eight years. She finds the sense of community she shares with students a necessary component to her own growth and increased sense of joy while motherhood helps to bring the lessons of yoga into the details of everyday life.
