Inspired by a background in philosophy, psychology and the natural sciences, I experience yoga as its true translation - a yoke or union of the body, mind and soul, of the particular and the universal.
I completed my 200 hr training in an alignment based asana practice in the Purna Yoga tradition in October of 2009 with my first teacher, Rutu Chaudhari.
I am continually amazed by experiencing the body as a metaphor and the way in which the particular shapes or poses that we embody in our asana practice relate to experiences outside of the studio. I believe that Yoga is to be practiced in every aspect of our lives and is thus remarkably more profound than the asanas alone. One of my greatest joys is observing students arrive at these realizations in their own respective times and to see the uplifting and affirming ways that Yoga touches each of them personally.
Practicing yoga cultivates a life-long relationship with Self where we come to understand and accept the nature of change; in doing so, we can experience tremendous growth and move through life, hopefully, with a little more grace.
